Hooks and lines

Mustad has developed and manufactured fish-hooks since 1877, and through the years we have made more than 100.000 different patterns. We do not rest on historic glory in hook manufacturing and swivel gear development. We still work hard to invent and supply the best gear for every longline purpose.

Specifically developed for our Autoline™ technology

Our different EZ baiter and circle hooks are specifically developed for our Autoline™ technology. Precision baiting, sharpness, strength, flexibility and corrosion resistance are the key factors in making the best hooks for this use.

Still No. 1 in hooks

All Autoline™ hooks are made at our factory in Gjøvik, Norway. In constantly refining our products and production processes and we have the ability to meet the needs from the most demanding customers in the world. These are some of the reasons we are still the No 1 in hooks;

The wire

• We make our own steel wire in Gjøvik, keeping a close quality control. The raw material alloys are defined for Mustad only.

Hook machines

• Our hook-machines are self developed, constructed and maintained. They are the only hook machines in the world making hooks in one process only; cutting, bending and sharpening the hook.We train a number of highly qualified technicians and certify them as machine operators to keep these machines running smoothly.

Heat treatment

• Hooks are heat treated to get the exact desired strength and flexibility. Combined with the steel alloy, this is a critical task for right hook strength.

Surface treatment

• The wear and tear on Autoline™ hooks is strong as the hooks are object to very heavy use in the fishing machinery. Hooks are treated with a specially developed tin plating, Duratin, securing maximum protection. The result is less corrosion and longer use.

Lines

Mustad Longline supplies a large variety of lines for longline fishing. In our standard assortment we can offer 5.5, 7.0, 9.0 and 11.5 mm rope line. For monofilament 2.5 and 3.0 mm are standard dimensions. In addition we can provide other lines on request.
