Mustad was the first company to industrialize fish hook production in 1877.
The main function of the SP2000 unit is to pick up the hooks and guide them onto the storage magazines. This is done automatically and consistently as the gear is hauled onboard. A secondary function is that the unit is also a slack taker keeping even tension on the gear coming from the main hauler.
The SP2000 can also be delivered with a high pressure water pump and accessories, which will give the additional functions of twist remover and gear cleaner.
The hook separator can operate efficiently at up to 111 m/min and thereby allow the vessel to haul back more gear per day, which is important with regard to the working environment and increased profits.
The SP2000 uses magnets, placed in a specially designed pattern, to guide the hooks onto one of the two hook catcher plates. The hook catching principle is highly efficient, and has no moving parts. Maintenance is minimal. The SP2000 is made from stainless steel with sheaves in composite material. The pressure wheel is spring loaded. A special hook guide design reduces wear on hooks and gear and ensures an efficient racking result.
