Longlining is an environmentally friendly catching method which also preserves the quality of the fish. We in Mustad are continuously working on new and innovative solutions, so that more fish can be caught by hook and line.
Mustad Longline is market leader in its global niche and supplies the longline fleet all over the world. Russia,USA, Iceland, Faroe, Greenland, Spain, France, Chile, Argentina, Korea, New Zealandand and Australia are our main markets, -together with Norway.
Mustad Longline is based in Gjøvik, approximately 2 hours by car north of Oslo by the lake Mjøsa. The region has 200.000 inhabitants with Lillehammer, Hamar and Gjøvik as natural regional centres. Mustad Longline is part of NCE Raufoss, an industrial cluster focusing on LEAN production philosophies.
Our Market and Service operation is located in Ålesund, Norway, the natural centre for fishing and fishing related industries in Northern Europe. We have a dedicated distribution and agent network in all main markets.
Mustad Longline has 35 employees, and will in 2011 have a turn-over of approximately NOK 100 mill. After a period of consolidation and down-sizing, the company is again in profitable growth cycle.
The company is a subsidiary in the Mustad group of companies, employing a total of approx. 900. The Mustad group is a 6th generation family company.
The name Mustad is the main pillar of our indentity and we want to live up to the tradition and identity associated with this brand. At the same time we want to be perceived as modern, future-oriented and innovative. This shall therefore characterize our products, our culture and our interaction with our stakeholders; customers, suppliers, partners and our local community.
Mustad Longline AS has twice (2010 and 2011) been granted the Eurostars status. Eurostars is the European Unions “champions league” for innovative companies, applicable for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In 2007 and 2011 Mustad Longline had projects approved by the Norwegian Research Council innovations program (BIA). In 2008 the company was awarded the Dagens Næringsliv’s “Gaselle prize” for rapid and profitable growth.
